This is going to be one of those rare crossover posts about both self-publishing and happiness.
As with any journey, it is so much easier when you have a guide, and I have a guide who has made me very happy. Unbeknownst to her, my guide has been the amazing author, Christiana Miller (Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She’s Dead). Because we are both members of the WGAW (the union representing screenwriters in Hollywood), we have access to a message board for members called Writer Action, and through this message board, Christiana has undertaken to provide a wealth of knowledge about self-publishing to her fellow writers that is pure gold. It is so much information that I’m stunned she even has the time for this, let alone the willingness to share such comprehensive details. I am in awe!
A lot of the information is also available on her blog, and if you’re smart enough to want to take the easy way to your goal, I suggest you start there.
Instead of having the attitude “If I had to work this hard to learn all of this, everyone else should,” Christiana seems to believe that the high tide raises all ships, and her success can be the bellows for all of her friends and colleagues to achieve the same.
What a rare gem!
I just forwarded her site to a friend of mine — I loved your spirit of paying it forward, so I did, too!
That’s awesome, Liane!
